The seeds for these plants were harvested from the top-producing American hazelnut plants in the UMHDI Hayward Americana Orchard in Hayward, WI. The nuts are smaller than hybrid hazelnuts and, as OP seedlings, expect variable production. These plants are best suited for wildlife plantings, plant breeding, or hobby production. The seedlings are grown by Hauser's Superior View Farm in Bayfield, WI. The plants are 2'-3' tall and grown in 1-quart Proptek-28 pots for air pruning. Plants should be planted by October 1, mulched, and a tree protector tube used to protect the plant over the first winter. Available for pick-up in Bayfield, WI starting September 15.
