Climate Smart Commodities Program (Expanding Agroforestry Program - EAP)
The Nature Conservancy was awarded $60million dollars from the federal government to establish 30,000 acres of new agroforestry plantings across the US. The program is administered in the Upper Midwest by the Savanna Institute. The program provides per tree incentive and per acre transition payments to growers to convert farmland to alley-cropping, silvopasture, or tree and shrub plantings.
